The Client and the Venue

Who they are

The Redeemed Christian Church of God is one of Nigeria’s largest church families. This page is about one parish, Mount Olives in Abuja, not the denomination, and the brief was the room itself.

The wall they had

The hall was finished before the display arrived: a black centre panel between two vertical wood-slat acoustic walls, a silver truss above, black speakers left and right, a raised platform about one step high, a podium on the centre line, black chairs on a tiled floor. That set four edges: inside the black panel, because the slats are acoustic treatment; clear of the truss; clear of the speakers; and placed so a person at the podium does not stand in front of it.

Why This Wall Is 3.52 × 2.4 m

Width comes from the black panel

3.52 m is 11 modules of 320 mm: 11 × 0.32 = 3.52, which fills the black panel with a margin to the timber on each side, so the wall reads as part of the room. It is the panel width rounded to whole modules.

Height comes from the truss and the sightline

2.4 m is 15 modules of 160 mm: 15 × 0.16 = 2.4. The top edge stays below the truss, so the wall rises only that far, and with the platform about one step high, anyone on it is below the image.

The ratio is 1.47:1, not 16:9

3.52 ÷ 2.4 = 1.47, while 16:9 is 16 ÷ 9 = 1.78. Design content at 1,408 × 960: a 16:9 feed either letterboxes or is cropped at the sides.

Why P2.5 for a Room This Deep

The distance sum

The rule is 1,000 times the pitch: 1,000 × 2.5 mm = 2,500 mm, or 2.5 m, and the seating begins behind the platform, so the nearest chair is already past it. At the back, 1,408 px across 3.52 m means one pixel is 3.52 ÷ 1,408 = 2.5 mm, so a 90 px capital is 225 mm on the wall.

Why not P3.91

P3.91 would have given 3.52 ÷ 0.00391 ≈ 900 px across instead of 1,408 and 2.4 ÷ 0.00391 ≈ 614 px high instead of 960, so a 225 mm letter would be 225 ÷ 3.91 ≈ 58 px tall.

Why not a taller wall

The truss and the panel cap the height: rows above 2.4 m would sit above the truss line and above the front rows’ sightline, adding panel and no legibility.

The Configuration We Delivered

Modules are 320 × 160 mm: 11 across × 15 high = 165, each 0.32 × 0.16 = 0.0512 m², so 165 × 0.0512 = 8.448 m², published as 8.4 m². Portrait cabinets, 320 mm wide by 480 mm high: 3.52 ÷ 0.32 = 11 across and 2.4 ÷ 0.48 = 5 high, giving 55. Each is 128 px wide and 192 px high at P2.5, so 11 × 128 = 1,408 and 5 × 192 = 960. The indoor fixed church LED screens page lists pitches.

Installation: What the Photos Show

Mounting inside an existing panel

A support frame was fixed inside the black panel, and the cabinets were located on their machined edges against it. Seams are set by the frame, not by shims, so a seam returns to the same place after a cabinet is refitted. Front-service modules meant no rear corridor.

Commissioning

Brightness and colour were balanced against the house lighting: the room is lit with warm downlights and the timber slats bounce that light toward the stage, so a wall left at neutral daylight white reads blue. The 600–800 nit range lets the white point sit where the room wants it, and the 1,408 × 960 canvas was handed over as the design size, with processor inputs labelled for volunteers – camera, lyrics, sermon.

The Screen in Action

The wall does three jobs that pull in different directions. IMAG, the live camera feed in the closer photograph, is the demanding one: faces move next to saturated stage light. Lyrics are a legibility job, where a 90 px capital is 225 mm tall. Sermon lower-thirds need margins for 1.47:1, not 16:9, or the text sits half off the wall.

Delivery and Support to Nigeria

Abuja is inland, so freight runs in two stages: by sea into Lagos or Port Harcourt, then by road for the last leg. Nigerian mains is 230 V at 50 Hz, which the display and processor are built for, with plug type G or D, so generator stability and earthing matter more than voltage conversion. Service is from the front, from the aisle; spare modules on site mean a gap closes quickly. Lead time is confirmed at order.

Documented walls include the Living Faith case at 11.5 m² in Nigeria and the Accra case at 46.7 m².

What a Similar Wall Costs

The indicative figure for indoor P2.5 equipment is about US$500–800 per m². At 8.45 m², 8.45 × 500 = 4,225 and 8.45 × 800 = 6,760, so a wall this size plans at roughly US$4,200–6,750 of panel equipment. These are indicative, equipment only, not a quotation.

  • Area and pitch: square metres and pitch set the panel figure.
  • Frame and fixing: a frame for an existing panel is a fabricated part.
  • Processor and control: the processor, its inputs and the cabling volunteers switch between.
  • Freight, duty and clearing to an inland city: port charges, duty and the road leg to Abuja.

The church LED screen price guide shows how these lines combine, and the Nigeria buying guide covers import and delivery.

Why Churches in Nigeria Choose LEGIDATECH

  • Installed church projects in Nigeria are documented, including the 11.5 m² wall in our Living Faith case.
  • Modules are magnetic and front-service, so a failed module is changed from the aisle without a scaffold.
  • The display is supplied factory-direct by LEGIDATECH, the manufacturer, so specification, spares and support come from one source.
  • Walls are designed to the room rather than to 16:9: this one is 3.52 × 2.4 m at 1.47:1, not a panel that would leave gaps in the black centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a 3.52 × 2.4 m P2.5 wall cost in Nigeria?

At about US$500–800 per m², panels for a wall this size come to roughly US$4,200–6,750. The frame, processor, freight, duty, clearing and the road leg to Abuja are additional.

Can you deliver to Abuja, which is inland?

Yes. Freight arrives by sea at Lagos or Port Harcourt and continues by road to Abuja, so inland delivery is normal two-stage work. Route and lead time are confirmed at order.

Is 8.4 m² enough for this hall?

It is the right size: 8.45 m² is what the black centre panel allows at 3.52 × 2.4 m, and at 1,408 × 960 px a 90 px capital is 225 mm tall.

Can the screen fit between the truss and the podium?

Yes. The wall is 2.4 m high: its top edge sits below the truss and its bottom edge above the platform, so a person at the podium is below the picture.

Will it flicker on phone video?

The wall is driven at 3,840 Hz, which keeps a camera from catching part of a refresh cycle and recording it as a dark band. The clip above was filmed on a phone.

Can modules be serviced from the front?

Yes. Modules are magnetic and front-service, so one lifts out from the aisle with no rear corridor, and spares on site avoid a wait.
